The Heart of Hive Mind Therapy
Sherree Turcott, LCSW

SOCIAL WORK
Sherree Turcott, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2015, holds licensure in Florida, Nevada, and North Carolina. She specializes in providing virtual, trauma-informed therapy for adult individuals and is available for select adolescents and older children when a virtual format is appropriate. Sherree also periodically offers both online and in-person group therapy sessions in the Asheville area, with updates shared on her website and social media. Understanding the demands of today’s busy schedules, Sherree maintains evening and weekend availability to ensure accessibility for working individuals.

Sherree’s focus areas include anxiety treatment, depression therapy, stress management, relationship counseling, and trauma-informed care. She has extensive experience with individuals managing ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and complex childhood trauma. She enjoys working with parents seeking to deepen connections with their children while reducing triggering behaviors. Sherree is passionate about helping clients build assertive communication skills, set healthy boundaries, and enhance their interpersonal relationships.

Drawing from her own lived experience as a mother, former foster parent, and person managing ADHD, anxiety, and PMDD, Sherree understands the value of both personal insight and academic knowledge. She approaches therapy from a feminist lens, providing a safe space for clients to explore their unique challenges and strengths. Her holistic and personalized approach combines evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), schema therapy, attachment theory, and inner child work.

A dedicated LGBTQ+ ally, Sherree supports clients questioning their sexuality or exploring non-monogamous relationships, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and positive change. She empowers each client to pursue healing and self-discovery, aiming to build lasting resilience and wellness.

MATERNAL AND CHILD PUBLIC HEALTH
Sherree earned her master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on Maternal and Child Health in 2015 and became a Certified Lactation Counselor during this time. Her dedication to maternal and child health has always been central to her work. Initially drawn to nursing with plans to become a nurse midwife, she ultimately shifted to education after receiving her first teaching position offer. Now, she integrates this extensive public health knowledge into her role as a therapist and educator, offering a unique, holistic approach to wellness and mental health.

Sherree’s public health expertise allows her to support clients through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. She emphasizes prevention, wellness, and access to care, focusing on the social determinants of health and health equity. With lived experience in infertility, miscarriage, childbirth, and breastfeeding, Sherree brings a deep level of empathy and understanding to her work, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and personal experience to connect authentically with her clients.

When providing public health services, Sherree promotes a data-driven approach to wellness and risk reduction, focusing on early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and health promotion to support her clients in building healthier lives for themselves and their families.

CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Sherree earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2009, drawing from early experience as a preschool assistant teacher and summer camp leader, where she developed skills in personalized learning and inquiry-based instruction. Her career journey has been shaped by specialized certifications, including a reading endorsement, ESOL endorsement, and ESE certification. In 2010, she officially began her teaching career, quickly building a reputation for her skill in data-driven instruction and differentiated, mastery-based approaches to meet the unique needs of her students. Her teaching experience spans diverse roles, including kindergarten, ESE, and middle school comprehensive sexual education, where she fostered critical thinking, digital literacy, and collaborative learning skills. Sherree’s natural ability to support struggling students was quickly recognized, and she often worked with those facing academic or behavioral challenges, empowering them to discover their strengths and adopt a growth mindset.

Sherree’s focus on inclusion and flexible learning has guided her approach to every classroom. She enthusiastically took on various leadership roles, often representing her school at professional conferences to bring back new insights on inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and scaffolding for her colleagues. Her understanding that all children have individual strengths and needs informs her interactions, creating a safe and nurturing environment where students could build self-confidence, embrace their learning journeys, and grow into lifelong learners.

Most recently, Sherree embraced the role of lead Pre-K teacher for her daughter’s class for three years, ultimately stepping into a director role in the preschool’s education department. She emphasized experiential learning, community engagement, and holistic wellness by organizing family-oriented events and developing a multi-level, Montessori-inspired curriculum that supported children across all levels and abilities. Her focus on population health and social determinants of health also informed her work, as she cultivated a supportive, inclusive classroom environment. In addition to curriculum development, she supported program expansion, hiring, marketing, and creating welcoming learning spaces, using her strong skills in collaborative learning to build a family atmosphere that continues to benefit students and their families today.

Sherree’s extensive teaching experience is invaluable to her current role as a therapist, especially when working with families. Her in-depth knowledge of childhood development is crucial in helping parents understand their children, navigate classroom and behavioral challenges, and build resilience. Believing that “knowledge is power,” she emphasizes psychoeducation in her sessions, equipping clients with skills and insights to sustain positive change beyond the therapy room.

Sherree’s approach incorporates personalized learning, data-driven instruction, critical thinking, growth mindset, inclusion, experiential learning, and scaffolding to reflect her commitment to student-centered, supportive education that builds lifelong confidence and capacity for growth.

LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK
Sherree embraces a multifaceted life as a dedicated wife, mother, and career-oriented professional. After spending three years as a stay-at-home mom and then teaching her daughter’s pre-K class, she now balances her work-from-home therapy practice with homeschooling. Community involvement has always been central to Sherree’s life, and she has held numerous volunteer roles, including serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, a volunteer Wish Granter with Make-A-Wish, a member and chair of the Buncombe County Library Advisory Board, and a board member for the Library Trust Fund.

Sherree has also initiated her own impactful outreach projects. She coordinated a free book drive for Buncombe County residents, partnering with a local independent bookstore to give away over 1,000 books each year. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, she collaborated with women-owned businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local mothers to raise $2,500 and gather hundreds of donations, creating 400 therapeutic Comfort Boxes for displaced children. Sherree organized and led a community event to bring people together, providing a sense of connection and support during a challenging time.

A few fun facts about Sherree: she’s a true crime enthusiast, an avid reader and podcast listener, a USF alum (Go Bulls!), and a lover of caramel lattes. And yes—she’s brave enough to reach her bare hands into a beehive!
